ARGENTUM 07.1

While the Mission unit generated well rounded tonal shading that was strong on the basic tones, the quadral’s sonic picture seemed a bit too silvery, but more detailed at the same time. ARGENTUM 03.1

Silver-coloured loudspeaker covers, silver painted baffles – it is immediately obvious why the quadral set is called "Argentum". With their silver look, even the membranes of the base-midrange units look like aluminium diaphragms – but appearances can be deceptive: the cone basic material is made of paper on to which a smooth, extremely hard plastic layer with mineral additives has been laminated. According to quadral developer Bernd Stark, this technology benefits from a very effective combination of shape stability for precise membrane movements and high, internal damping for a neutral sound with no material resonances. To give an extensive dynamic response Stark further developed the tweeter used in all Argentum boxes to produce an extremely low membrane weight. The result was very successful: the fabric dome is responsive up to 45 Kilohertz – one octave beyond the range of human hearing. ... The quadral team generated appreciably more thrust by adding the SUB 87 subwoofer. The low frequency punch packed by this compact "flyweight" was simply astonishing.
