In 1981 the first TITAN made history. With its presence and its exceptional sound it has inspired trade press and customers equally throughout time. Now, 35 years on, the 9th generation sees the light of day. Again it makes its mark: 145 cm tall, more than 80 kg of pure handcrafted excellence. The high / midrange area is a combination of quadral ALTIMA® and quSENSE in a D’appolito-arrangement. In the low range area, you’ll discover a powerful pressure chamber with two strong drivers.
The result is impressive: extreme dynamics paired with an enormous sound stage and incomparable sovereignty. The room becomes a concert hall, massively fuelled, and as always, with an unrivalled ability to pamper the most delicate of moments too. The quSENSE- technology works with exceptional low distortion into highest level areas. The powerful low bass provides the necessary foundation for a typical neutral AURUM sound.
TITAN 9 excites audiophile connoisseurs as well as owners of high-quality home cinema installations.

Summary, TITAN: a success story
This loudspeaker is a legend. 1981 was the year when – for what was then 8,600 DM – this huge acoustic transducer with a truly amazing sound appeared on the scene, making a noise that only really big loudspeakers can. The idea conceived by Helmut Schaper with transmission-line sound channelling and ribbon tweeter were the key elements in the first four versions, until subsequently Berndt Stark, Dirk Fritsche, Thomas Mengert and now Sascha Reckert took over the development of Titan, Vulkan, Montan & Co. and each made their own, very individual mark on the product. The Titan trademark was always an exceptional low bass with a lively dynamic It’s not changed over the generations and decades. Admittedly there is no stopping technical progress and so the sound of each more sophisticated successor is more mature, more harmonious and altogether more convincing. Simulation technology, CAD and an improved chassis make that possible.

AREA DVD: “Best performances in every discipline crown Titan 9 the best Titan ever”
The online magazine AREA DVD has selected the AURUM TITAN 9 as the “Masterpiece” in the category “Luxury class floorstanding loudspeakers”. The conclusion of the XXL test on 19 September 2016: “The Titan 9, which was presented at Highend 2016, is a real masterpiece. This impression manifests itself immediately after unpacking. The finest manufacturing quality, outstanding paintwork, a first-class connection terminal with sound selection switches that meets the highest demands, an enormously high-quality base – this is where the special status of the Titan becomes apparent. The only limitations are the visible screw connections of the two mid-range and tweeter drivers, which are integrated in the D’Appolito arrangement. Acoustically, the Titan 9 meets even the highest demands. Not only is the level stability exorbitantly high even in the listening room above the 40 square metres, but the entire acoustic harmony is also at an enormous level. A bit fresher tuned than its predecessor, the current Titan 9 is also far from ever appearing acoustically aggressive or even shrill. Finely graded mids, enormous transparency and brilliance in the high-frequency range: the high-frequency range in particular impressively demonstrates the strength of the new Titan. It was therefore worthwhile to bring the production of the quSENSE ribbon directly to the company in Hanover. So the tweeter presents itself as perfectly matched to the Titan 9. At the other end of the frequency spectrum, in the bass range, the two powerful 265 mm woofers set effective accents. Due to the pressure chamber/bass reflex principle, which has been perfected further and further over the years, a clearly structured, emphatic bass with outstanding bass is offered. Thus the Titan 9 presents itself as an all around and in every detail successful new construction, which can audibly exceed the acoustic performance of its predecessor in all respects.

stereoplay magazine had invited the flagship AURUM TITAN 9 and has put it to test. The result was a highlight: the eligible “stereoplay seal“, as well as 88 points in the total evalutation, plus an “outstanding“ in terms of price/ratio. The conclusion of Malte Ruhnke, chief editor of stereoplay: “Tuned warmly, naturally depicting, and transparently stress free. Does not know meaningful level or low bass limits, is after hours still relaxed, but demands an acoustically good spatial environment.“

... this is how online magazine LowBeats entitles the test of current AURUM TITAN 9
35 years on top
… this is how online magazine LowBeats entitles the test of current AURUM TITAN 9. Chief editor Holger Biermann sees the newest AURUM flagship in his conclusion: “again at the top“, “the total package quadral AURUM Titan R9 is just right. 15,000 euro is a lot of money, but a lot is offered. In the ninth variation of the Titan theme, excellent manufacturing and a comparably discreet sound with an extremely low bass capability are combined. Regarding the tonal character it is similar to the equally priced KEF Reference 5, but has more level stability. Of course there are some loudspeakers in this price category that sound even more open and starting. Well, there has to be something for every taste. With Titan R9 you can listen fabulously relaxed, but also re-enact live concerts in original volume. So, quadral AURUM Titan R9 again sets standards in its class – the flagship character maintains. The slightly high display is a matter of taste, but you can easily correct it by bending it gently forward and back down again. “

“A legend … ?!”
This is how the prestigious magazine “Hifi-stars” titles its current edition. Meant is an article about AURUM TITAN 9 visiting the editors a couple of weeks ago. The result of the testers:”Titan IX is doubtlessly a sound monument of its genus. For music lovers that dispose of the according space a “must listen” and for everybody else there are smaller models that all carry the genes of reference of the German manufacturers. We are going to report…”
