40 Years Titans

There is often an interesting story behind great successes.

The Titan Story begins in 1981, when the curtain rises on an eye-popping loudspeaker that will take the listening experience to a new dimension. The aim of the protagonists at the time, Edmond Semmelhaack and Helmut Schaper, was to create a loudspeaker with a frequency response that was as linear as possible.

A loudspeaker that can present the deepest basses, right down to the tangible range, just as impressively as finely defined trebles.

The result was the Titan I, with a powerful woofer, transmission line and an extremely complex ribbon tweeter. Especially the “pompous” masterpieces of German composer legends became a thrilling experience with it. No less impressive: the Vulkan presented at the same time, which was structurally very similar to its big sister and was to become a bestseller in the years to come.

Titan II

When it appeared at the end of 1981, the TITAN I defined the concept of the high-end box as the best possible quality, very close to the ideal – and its purchase price was absolutely fair. No image bonus. No brand bonus. Simply the best possible sound for the money. But it soon became a challenge for the former quadral chief developer Helmut Schaper to top the outstanding TITAN I.

Titan III

Titan I and Titan II soon became myths. Their performance, their sensitivity to the finest musical details, their exemplary neutrality and, last but not least, their fair purchase price made them the German high-end loudspeakers of the 1980s. Countless test wins and purchase recommendations ensured an undisputed special status, which was to be consolidated by the Titan III.

Titan IV

The reference of high-end loudspeakers has been known as Titan for a decade. Quadral’s “acoustic giants” were always up to date and mastered every challenge. They were thus able to elicit maximum acoustic authenticity from vinyl records, but also from CDs. Titan meant moving the concert right into the living room and being able to experience the music up close

Titan V

In the mid-1990s – technology had progressed unstoppably – quadral succeeded in reaching a new peak in loudspeaker technology with the Titan V and came a big step closer to the ideal. The Titan V visually embodied the step into a new era – slim, athletic, noble. As always, it wanted to be understood not only as a technical but also as an aesthetic masterpiece.

Titan VI
Always have the ideal in mind and realize what is technically feasible. Be and stay innovative. For more than two decades, we have strived to build loudspeakers that inspire in every detail and allow the listener to immerse themselves deeply in the music. Our titanium speakers have always opened new doors to previously hidden musical details, and with each generation high-end audio lovers have found even more immersive access to their favorite music. The maxim of combining the currently best components into an impressive overall work was also the leitmotif when creating the new generation. Berndt Stark, developer of the Titan VI, attached great importance to outstanding quality and perfect interaction when selecting the components, the craftsmanship and of course the acoustic fine-tuning. The result was a loudspeaker that clearly bore his signature and impressed the trade press and hi-fi fans alike

Titan VII
Dimensions lead. Characteristics of each Titan are the fusion of traditional and innovative technologies in the sense of a continuous further development of the sound. More impressively than ever before, the Titan VII embodies the claim of its designers to build loudspeakers close to the ideal. The extraordinary shape of this sound icon is not least due to the breathtaking 380 mm woofer, which, together with the new ribbon tweeter, ensures a thrilling sound experience.

Titan VIII
For more than 30 years, the name Titan has stood for a loudspeaker series that constantly takes the listening experience to new dimensions. Characteristics of each Titan are the fusion of traditional and innovative technologies in the sense of a continuous development of the sound. A great challenge for Sascha Reckert, developer of the eighth Titan generation, which he mastered with flying colours.

Titan 9
In 1981 the first Titan made history. With her presence and her extraordinary sound, she inspired the trade press and customers alike. 35 years later, Generation 9 sees the light of day. And it sets an example again: 145 cm high, more than 80 kg of pure craftsmanship. The high/mid range, a combination of quadral Altima® and qusense in D’appolito arrangement. The low frequency range, a powerful pressure chamber with two powerful drivers. The result is impressive: extreme dynamics paired with enormous detail and a sovereignty that is second to none. The room becomes a concert hall, massively fired up and yet filigreely dissolving. The qusense technology works with exceptionally low distortion, right up to the highest level ranges. The powerful deep bass provides the necessary foundation for the Aurum-typical, neutral sound.

Titan 9 inspires audiophile fine spirits as well as owners of high-quality home cinema installations.
