1) The RiCom M and its special features
The PLATINUM tweeter RiCom M is a completely new development and, like the larger AURUM RiCom before it, generates superb sound by way of an annular diaphragm. Nevertheless, there are significant differences between the two.
2) The quadral titanium dome tweeter
Titanium is a sturdy, light metal optimally suitable for the construction of small tweeter diaphragms. It is more torsion-resistant than aluminium, and thus produces a more neutral sound.
3) The CHROMIUM STYLE family’s ribbon tweeter
The classic ribbon tweeters that have been an established feature of loudspeakers for around 80 years are based on the concept of suspending the diaphragm in a fixed magnetic field, where it oscillates accordingly when alternating current passes through this field.
4) Runtime correction
In virtually all conventional center speakers, the tweeter is located between two low-midranges; the result is that a well-balanced sound is only heard if the listener is positioned directly facing the axis formed in this way. Sitting laterally to the tweeter axis means a considerable loss of acoustic pressure in the presence range (between 1 kHz and 4 kHz), and voice reproduction is not the only aspect to be audibly impaired.
5) quadral's acw principle
"acw" stands for "air coupled woofer" and is a special variant of the bass reinforcing reflex principle. The normal reflex tunnel is replaced by a membrane, which is precisely defined by a surface and a mass.
6) Soft clipping and peak-limiter
Overloading or overmodulation are usually prevented by restricting the volume input level via limiters. Conventional limiters function similarly to an elastic band attached to a ball and prevent it from slamming against, for example, a wall, thereby averting hard impact or even damage. However, this rubber band has an effect on every movement of the ball, not only on the larger ones. A limiter acts in the same way, which means that a subwoofer fitted with a limiter will sound slightly woolly or even distorted, even if they effectively counteract extremely high input levels.
7) quadral ALTIMA® diaphragms
What sets quadral ALTIMA® apart from other diaphragms?
quadral ALTIMA® features a unique and effective blend of the three light metals aluminium, titanium and magnesium.
